Goals:

1. Provide risk management education leadership and coordination for the North Central Region.

  1. Interact with state contacts to identify the risk management education needs within the region.
  2. Review previous work done on identifying needs and priorities, and use other relevant mechanisms to identify risk management education needs.
  3. Collect input and feedback to determine emerging issues and areas of need for educational programs consistent with the changing structure of agriculture

2. Establish priorities for risk management education programs and conduct a competitive grants program to respond to these priorities. These priorities will recognize:

  1. Producers with limited prior exposure to risk management education.
  2. Small scale and minority producers.
  3. Women involved in agricultural production and management.
  4. Successful, ongoing programs and the need to maintain the educational momentum of these programs.

3. Enhance collaboration and partnering within the region.

  1. Encourage collaborative projects that are multi-state and/or multi-agency.
  2. Work with the national steering committee and national risk management coordinating committee to establish and maintain contact with all organizations and agencies in the region that provide risk management services, products or tools. 

4. Disseminate information regarding risk management activities in the region.

  1. Prepare news releases and other appropriate documents to inform producers of the educational opportunities and materials available.
  2. Prepare releases for general public readership of the advances being made in risk management education.
  3. Prepare reports for policy makers and others interested in the developments in risk management education and the impacts of programs.
