Dale H. Lattz
Biography

Dale Lattz grew up on a small grain and livestock farm in northeastern Illinois . He was a member of the Future Farmers of America in high school, achieving the State Farmer degree. After high school, he attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and received his undergraduate degree in Agricultural Industries in 1976, specializing in agricultural economics. He received his master's degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1980.

From May of 1978 until October of 1985, he was employed as an Area Extension Advisor with the East Central Farm Business Farm Management Association. His duties included assisting farm operators with their accounting, financial and production analysis and tax management.

In October of 1985 Lattz joined the University of Illinois as a Farm Management Extension Specialist. Lattz's major focus is farm management with specialties in farm accounting and farm business analysis. He also serves as “State Leader of FBFM Field Staff” and “Executive Secretary of the Illinois FBFM Association.” FBFM is Illinois ' Farm Business Farm Management Association. The Association consists of the State Association, 9 Local Associations and 60 Field Staff who carry out the program statewide. Lattz provides leadership for FBFM and coordinates its activities with the educational objectives of the Department, College, and University of Illinois Extension . He is instrumental in interpreting and disseminating FBFM data, and in identifying and quantifying real farm problems.

Lattz is also an integral part of the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics award-winning farmdoc program, providing support for the management subject area. Farmdoc aids farmers in decision-making and risk management; the farmdoc website is the primary delivery mechanism for its research-based educational materials.
